Coach Looks to the Mouse House for Inspiration.

Coach is helping Disney prove “you’re never too old to be young” with the launch of their new Disney inspired pieces.  The Coach-Disney collaboration is part of Coach’s celebration of American pop culture for the company’s 75th yea anniversary collection, entitled “Coach 1941”.

Coach Creative Director, Stuart Vevers, is admittedly a fan of the Mouse house, which led to his latest collaboration.  Yes, there will be a bag featuring the iconic Mickey Mouse ears!

“I’ve always seen Mickey as a playful rebel at heart and a timeless symbol of joy and creativity. That spirit reinforces the new youthful perspective we are bringing to luxury at Coach. Mickey Mouse is one of my earliest memories of American pop – his nostalgic charm, cheekiness, individuality and inherent cool make for the ultimate American icon.”- Stuart Vevers

When!?

So when can you get your hands on this new Disney inspired collection?  The pieces from this new collaboration “Disney x Coach 1941” hit stores and online (coach.com) around the world on June 17th, although they are already available at Coach’s New York City SoHo location and at Collete-Paris.

What Can We Expect?

The pieces in this collection will feature a variety of items including wallets, purses, passport holders and bags in a variety of Disney-inspired colors with slightly different tributes to Mickey Mouse on each item.

But don’t expect to pay Coach’s “usual” prices.  Items in this new Disney collection will likely be priced hire than Coach’s items have been traditionally, as all items in Coach 1941’s “Heritage” line launched earlier this year, were slightly more expensive.

Style

Each item has the same classic Coach 1941 style, with a small Disney twist.

For each item in the collection, creative director Stuart Vevers found a way to use Mickey Mouse’s face in a clever and slightly unique way so that each piece is unique.  This type of Disney-inspired creativity and innovation is exactly what Coach believes will set it apart from its handbag rivals, Michael Kors and Kate Spade.

So far Coach’s 1941 collection has been uber successful, with increased sales earlier this year from the launch of the collection’s “Heritage” line and limited-time Snoopy collection.  The company expects even higher revenue for its Disney collection once it hits stores and online June 17th.  Get your Mickey Mouse Chic-on while supplies last, as these items are expected to go fast.
