The Grand Californian Hotel and Spa Remodel to be Completed by End of 2017

Guests of the Disneyland Resort will soon be able to enjoy brand new rooms thanks to the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa remodel. Public Relations Manager for Disney Destinations, Michael Ramirez shared details surrounding the exciting renovation currently underway at the resort. “Walt Disney Imagineering has developed an impressive plan that not only elevates the premium hotel experience, but also brings a modern approach to the Arts & Crafts design style,” said Ramirez. The refresh will include a reimagining of all guest rooms, pool areas and the Craftsman Club. The lobby will get new furniture as well.

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa Pool

The Grand Californian Hotel and Spa remodel comes just in time, as the luxury resort was starting to show signs of its age. While the hotel offers close proximity to theme parks and the Downtown Disney shopping district, the hotel rooms and pool area were in need of freshening up. The slow moving water slide and dark and drab guest rooms paled in comparison to the newly renovated Disneyland Hotel. Recently named a AAA Four Diamond hotel by the Automobile Club of Southern California for the sixteenth year in a row, the 16-year-old hotel will shine once more thanks to the refresh.

There are currently three Disney owned and operated hotels part of the Disneyland Resort – the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel. In the summer of 2016, Disney released plans for a new luxury resort on the property. The new resort would likely compete with the Grand Californian for high end guest bookings. The Disneyland Hotel went under a massive remodel in 2012, which included new furnishings, and a completely re-imagined pool area.

The newly released images of the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa remodel reveal a modern approach to the Arts & Crafts design style. The once dark rooms have been brightened up thanks to white curtains, and lighter colored wood furnishings. The old dark TV stands are gone. New flat screen TVs are now mounted on the wall above new marble topped dressers. The orange trees painted on each wall pay homage to the orange groves that once lined the area Disneyland sits today. The bathrooms will be updated with new stand-up showers, light-up mirrors and more.

The Grand Californian Hotel and Spa remodel is being conducted in parts. Guests of the resort will begin to enjoy the first phase of the refresh soon. No timeline has been provided. The multi-phase roll-out is expected to be completed by the end of 2017, just in time for the hotel’s busy holiday season. Check back with Search Princess for more updates.
