Cinderella’s Castle

Discover all that Cinderella’s Castle has to offer

Standing tall at 183 feet, Cinderella’s Castle peaks above the lush Florida landscape, making the tips of it’s towers viewable from all three Magic Kingdom hotel properties (Disney’s Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian resorts).

As you enter Main Street USA, your eyes are drawn to the towering Gothic-inspired castle. Unlike Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland, Cinderella’s Castle seems true to size at 100 feet taller than the first Disney castle.

Construction

Construction on Cinderella’s castle was completed in 1971, and took 18 months to complete. Although the castle looks like it was built with brick, the castle was actually constructed using steel rods and concrete. Gold was not used on any parts of the castle, aluminum was used instead. 3.37 million gallons of water makes up the moat surrounding the castle.

History

Space was reserved within the castle for a lavish suite to be used by the Disney family and executives, but Walt passed away before the plans were finalized. The suite was used for many purposes including a call center and dressing room, before it was turned into a Dream suite. Specially selected guests can win a night in the magical suite, but you can also view the suite by purchasing tickets to a Magic Kingdom tour.

Restaurant

Guests can dine within Cinderella’s castle, and enjoy beautiful views of Fantasyland, including the newly build Beast’s Castle. Cinderella’s Royal Table is located on the second floor of the castle, and is a character dining experience. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance, and they do fill up quickly. The My Disney Experience App is a great way to make Disney dining reservations. If you find that there are no reservations available prior to your trip, you can always check back in the event that there are cancellations.

At Cinderella’s Royal Table guests can enjoy a variety of delicious entrees and beautiful deserts. The dinner menu includes a fresh fish of the day, slow-roasted pork tenderloin, and pan seared chicken. My favorite part of dinner was desert. The “Clock Strikes Twelve” flourless chocolate cake was not only tasty, but beautiful to look at.

Shows & Live Entertainment

There are multiple shows that take place on the stage and balcony at Cinderella’s castle. A new daytime show is about to debut called, “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire.” Some of your favorite Disney character’s will be joining Mickey & Minnie on stage including Tiana and Rapunzel and Flynn.

When the sun goes down Wishes Nighttime Spectacular is a fireworks show you can’t miss. Voices from your favorite Disney films narrate this dazzling show.

A Frozen Holiday Wish takes place during Christmas time at the park, and can’t be missed. Anna, Elsa and all their friends join in on the holiday fun.
