The Good

The Maison Albar Mac Mahon hotel is located mere steps away from the Arc de Triomphe, one of the most famous monuments in Paris. The arc was built in 1806 in honor of those who fought for France during the Napoleonic Wars. It’s a breathtaking monument you must visit while in Paris. One street over from the hotel is the Champs Elysees, the premiere area for shopping and dining in Paris. The street is lined with shops including a wide range of retailers from H&M to Cartier, and multiple dining experiences. By staying at the Maison Albar you can skip taxi rides, and save hundreds.

Paris is well known for it’s efficient public transportation, more specifically it’s train system. Located just outside the lobby of the Masion Albar Mac Mahon is the subway which can take you anywhere you want to go. You can take the train to the Eiffel Tower, Louvre or even Disneyland Paris. Prefer to walk and take in the sights? The Louvre is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel along the Champs Elysees, and the Eiffel Tower is about 20 – 30 minute walk as well.

As is typical for a boutique European hotel, the standard room is quite small. If you like space look to book an Executive room or one of the five suites.

The Bad

The bad really isn’t that bad. At the Maison Albar Mac Mahon furnishings and decor are modern and stylish. However, if you do book a superior room be warned, showering can be difficult as the bathroom is similar in size to an airplane lavatory. If your looking for comfort and to face the street, you will need to book a suite or executive room. The hotel doesn’t provide much in terms of a view. Superior rooms can face inward, so your view may be into another window of an adjacent building. The lobby is small, just enough room for a desk for check-in. There is a small area to sit and enjoy a drink. This area is currently under construction/expansion.

Summary

  • Small bathrooms
  • No view
  • No lobby
  • No restaurant

If you’re looking for a resort experience, the Maison Albar isn’t right for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a luxurious room to rest after a long day of exploring all Paris has to offer, consider the Maison Albar.
