Mandara Spa – An Escape from the Parks

Parents – Get pampered at Mandara Spa and watch your theme park stresses melt away

While we all go into a trip to Walt Disney World with certain expectations, none of us are quite prepared for the heat, the logistics, and the ware and tare of running around from park to park, day after day. After a few days in the parks, your body will be aching for a massage and mind needing of a retreat.

Many Walt Disney World hotels feature spas, but Mandara Spa at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin provides guests with a unique experience, transporting visitors from muggy Orlando to the far east. Rich in Balinese heritage, Mandara Spa is like no other spa I’ve ever visited.

If you’re anything like me, spa facilities are just as important as the services themselves. At Mandara Spa guests can enjoy 10,500 square feet of sanctuary. Escape to a temple of relaxation, where you can rest and enjoy an intimate tea garden, sitting and sipping room, meditation garden and other exotic retreats.

The Experience

I visited Mandara Spa on my honeymoon. My husband had gotten sick on the first day of our trip, and by day four he was a dead man walking. I made an appointment at Mandara Spa after researching our options. I was a bit reluctant to choose the spa at the Swan and Dolphin over others at the Grand Floridian and Yacht Club, but the online pictures won me over.

We entered the spa and were immediately impressed by the exotic decor. There are two areas were guests can kick back (or collapse) and relax while waiting for treatment. The tea or “sipping” room is quiet and tranquil. They offer a variety of delicious teas and snacks for guests to enjoy. The seating area in the tearoom is visually stunning, but not as comfortable as the seating in the temple room.

We sat and enjoyed our tea and snacks until our names were called. I booked a Mandara customized massage. Treatments don’t come cheap at Mandara, but after treating your whole family you deserve to treat yourself. The treatment room was warm and scented to perfection. The massage was perfect, relieving the kinks from my back and soreness of my muscles.

Location

Mandara Spa is located within Walt Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Hotel which is part of the Epcot resorts. It’s located between the Yacht Club and Boardwalk Hotels. The spa is located on the second floor of the hotel. If you’re coming straight from Epcot or Hollywood Studios parks you can take the free boat shuttle from the parks to the hotel.

Mandara Spa is a great retreat from theme park madness. Take time to relax and recover on your vacation, so you can be refreshed for another day at the parks.

Are you visiting Walt Disney World soon? Will you take a trip to the spa while there?
