Mickey Mouse is Celebrating His Birthday Across the World

“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse,” is one of Walt Disney’s most famous quotes. Don’t worry Walt, no one’s forgotten about Mickey.

Mickey Mouse has been on a world-wind tour across the globe in anticipation of his 88th birthday. The most famous mouse in the world’s been globe-trotting to cities like Shanghai, Rio De Janeiro, Paris and Kyoto. Hard to believe it’s been 88 years since Mickey Mouse first appeared on Steamboat Willie.

Today, Mickey celebrated his birthday with the debut of a new music video on Good Morning America. The music video highlights his trip across the world, and show cases the love the world has for the cheerful mouse. “When people laugh at Mickey Mouse, it’s because he’s so human; and that is the secret of his popularity,” said Disney. Guests of Disneyland Park can help Mickey celebrate today by singing “Happy Birthday” to Mickey in a special pre-parade moment before enjoying “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade on Main Street, U.S.A.

At Walt Disney World Resort you can join your favorite Disney characters in a special birthday-themed street party. Don’t forget to grab your commemorative “Happy Birthday, Mickey!” buttons before leaving the parks.

At the Shanghai Disneyland Resort, guests will sing Happy Birthday Mickey Mouse along Mickey Avenue with a special Grand-Marshal pre-parade. At Hong Kong Disneyland you’ll find commemorative birthday stickers and pins and a chance to share a magical moment with the birthday boy himself.

Disneyland Paris will be hosting a three-day celebration for the mouse that started it all. A special Mickey cupcake will be available at various locations.
