Sally Makes an Appearance at Haunted Mansion Holiday
The Haunted Mansion Holiday Adds Sally & More
Halloween time at Disneyland Park is one of the best times to pay a visit. The park undergoes an impressive holiday overhaul each September including decor, merchandise, food and attractions. Perhaps the best part of Halloween time at the park is the Haunted Mansion Holiday.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Each year for Halloween and Christmas, the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland park goes from spooky to kooky, as Jack and his Halloween Town friends take over the Mansion. The updated ride includes Jack, Zero, Oogie Boogie – and this year debuts a brand new Sally figure. For fans of the film, this addition seems like a no-brainer. In fact, we’re surprised she wasn’t added originally. This new life-size Sally figure is much better than the miniature Sally previously placed at the exit of the ride.
There’s Something About Sally
If you haven’t seen The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sally plays Jack Skellington’s secret admirer and love interest. Dissatisfied with her life as Doctor Finklestein’s caregiver, Sally wants more. She clearly cares deeply for Jack, for whom she risks her freedom on several occasions. It’s Sally who first sees something wrong with Jack’s plan to take over Christmas. She plays a pivotal role in the film, preventing his destruction and helping him find redemption and eventual satisfaction.
The new Haunted Mansion Holiday Sally Figure can be found in the graveyard scene. With a look of longing in her eyes, she’s clearly fawning over Jack. Disney imagineers bring Sally to life capturing every detail and stitch. They even included the basket of fish bones and potions Sally delivers to Jack in the film.
More Gingerbread
Each year for the past 15 years the Haunted Mansion Holiday brings us a new Halloween themed Gingerbread house. Each gingerbread house consists of 200 pounds of gingerbread, 200 pounds of powdered sugar, and 4 gallons of egg whites, according to Rachel Bshero, Food and Beverage Marketing Communications Coordinator for Disney Parks. This year’s house includes spooky red eyes, a glowing jack-o-lantern, and a lot of stitching. The stitching is of course inspired by Sally herself, who makes an appearance in the attraction this year.
“The whole structure has been cobbled and stitched together from other different gingerbread houses and treats,” said Tim Wollweber, Associate Art Director to the Disney Parks Blog.
