The Lunar New Year Celebration at California Adventure Park Will Dazzle You

The Lunar New Year Celebration will run from January 20th through February 5th at Disney’s California Adventure Park. The lively celebration will be rich in time-honored traditions that commemorate the start of the new year, according to the park’s website. Disney promises that this year’s celebration will be bigger than previous years.

Guests will enjoy culturally-inspired food, music, entertainment and festive decorations. Disney characters will be dressed in traditional Chinese garb.

A New Nighttime Water Show

The celebration is also the debut of a new nighttime water show called “Journey of Little Lantern,” which stars Mulan, Mushu and the little lantern. Guests will follow the little lantern on a quest to reunite with family during their annual gathering to celebrate good fortune for the upcoming year. The new water show will feature the original score composed by Tan Dun for the opening ceremony of Shanghai Disney Resort.

A New Disney Parade

In addition to the nighttime water show, a new parade will make it’s way across the park. Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession features Mulan and many eye-catching performances. The acrobats of China will amaze guests with their award-winning acrobats. The performers will use ropes, hoops, drums, chairs and more in their acrobatic performances.

Meet Mulan

Fans of Mulan will finally get a chance to meet her at the park. Mulan, Mushu and other Disney characters will be greeting guests and posing for photos around the Disneyland Resort. Visit the Paradise Garden Grill area to meet characters for a memorable family photo underneath a beautiful gazebo decorated with peach blossoms, bamboo, multi-lingual holiday banners and golden flowers.

Special merchandise will be sold at the parks during the celebration. Guests can visit the Seaside Souvenirs open-air shop next to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid attraction for Lunar New Year-themed apparel, souvenirs and gifts for those waiting back at home.

Guests can take a visit to the Wall for Well-Wishers which will be constructed from Paradise Garden Grill to Goofy’s Sky School. Guests are encouraged to write a special message of hope, health and happiness and add it to the wall.
