The Elena of Avalor TV Movie Will Finally Reveal Secrets

Elena of Avalor is a hit with audiences, and a refreshing answer to the need for a Latina princess, but the show’s premiere and subsequent episodes have left us with many unanswered questions. For example, what exactly happened to Elena’s parents? And how did she get trapped in her amulet?

The TV Movie, Elena and the Secret of Avalor promises to address these questions and more. We will learn how she is freed by Princess Sofia of Enchancia, and how Shuriki came to rule Avalor. Elena and the Secret of Avalor will debut simultaneously on Disney Channel and Disney Junior on Sunday November 20th at 7 pm EST.

In Disney Channel’s Elena and the Secret of Avalor, viewers will watch as Elena is imprisoned in her amulet by the evil sorceress Shuriki, and released by none other than Princess Sofia of Enchancia. The TV special will also be the premiere of Princess Elena’s anthem, the catchy “My Time,” performed by Young and Hungry actress Aimee Carrero.

The Disney Channel movie event was actually supposed to debut on Disney Junior before the series launched on Disney Channel in summer 2016. Disney executives decided to postpone the TV film, and debut Elena of Avalor first. The move makes sense. By introducing audiences to Princess Elena and Avalor first, viewers are more invested in learning more about her origin story.

The show has been a hit for the network and Disney Consumer Products. Princess Elena costumes are being sold at Disney Parks, Disney Stores and a variety of retailers including Kohls. Elena and the Secret of Avalor stars Aimee Carrero (who voices Elena in the series), the legendary Jane Fonda (Grace and Frankie) as the evil sorceress Shuriki and Ariel Winter (Modern Family) as Princess Sofia.

Don’t forget to watch when the TV movie debuts on Disney Channel and Disney Junior next month, and catch the Dia de los Muertos episodeA Day to Remember” this month.
